Options and Special Equipment There was a variety of optional and
special equipment available for wood wagons: 12- or 14-foot reaches were one choice, 11-inch bolster stakes another. There were various types of brakes, a seat, seat riser, foot board, tool box, feed box, boot end, shoveling boards, even steel wheels were offered as an option. There also was a number of different boxes and beds available, such as a grain box, narrow box, wide flat bed for loose hay, business bed for in-town use or a shallow bed with flared sides. The Reliance Buggy Company made special wagon boxes for the "Southern trade." These were narrow, 12-foot-long boxes for hauling hand-picked cotton to the gin or baled cotton to a river boat landing, railroad station, or warehouse.
